When Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) is offered by a bookie, your bet will be settled at whichever price is higher between the price that you took when you placed your bet and the Starting Price (SP) of your horse.
Like with any sport, horse racing odds can fluctuate and so the price you placed your bet at, may not be the price the horse goes off at. If you placed your bet before the off and didn’t take the Starting Price, there are two possible scenarios:
1. The Starting Price of your horse is greater than the price you took
When Best Odds Guaranteed is available, if the odds on your horse when the race starts are greater than the odds you placed your bet at, your bet will be settled at the Starting Price should your horse win.
Example: You bet on Red Rum at 4/1 in the 3pm at Newcastle. When the race starts, the odds on Red Rum to win have drifted to 5/1. Providing Best Odds Guaranteed is available, your bet will be paid out at odds of 5/1 should Red Run win.
2. The Starting Price of your horse is shorter than the price you took
If the price of your horse has shortened, resulting in the Starting Price being lower than the price you took, your bet will be settled at the price on your betslip as it is the greater of the two prices.
Example: You bet on Tiger Roll at 10/1 in the 4pm at Kempton. When the race starts, the odds on Tiger Roll have shortened to 7/1. In these circumstances, your bet will be settled at the original price which you took when placing your bet.
To summarise, Best Odds Guaranteed means that your bets will be settled at the greater of the two prices between the price you took and the starting price of your horse.

What Is Acca Insurance?
Acca Insurance is a common betting promotion that is available on several sports but most commonly, football. It applies to accumulator bets and means that you receive your stake back if your Acca loses due to just one selection failing to win with all of the others coming in.

What Are Odds Boosts?
